I have heard many songs in my native land,
They sang to me of joy and grief in them,
But one of those songs cut into my memory,
It is the song of a workers' artel.

El sabio inglés, para ayudarse en el trabajo,
inventó máquina tras máquina,
pero nuestro mujik ruso,
cuando ya no puede trabajar,
entona su querida 'Dubínushka'.

El inglés, que es sagaz, para el peso aliviar,
inventó una y otra máquina,
mas el ruso mujik,
si no puede seguir,
entona su amada 'Dubínushka'.

But the time came, and the people rose up,
They straightened their bent back,
And shook off their shoulders
The heavy age-old yoke,
And raised the cudgel against their enemies.

But the time came at last and the people arose,
Straightened up their bent backs to the sky,
And they shook off the chain
Of the age-long hard strain,
Raised the cudgel against foes up high.

Pero llegó la hora y el pueblo se levantó,
enderezó su espalda encorvada,
y sacudió de sus hombros
